Phyllis H. | Birth Doula in Fayetteville, NC

Dogwood Doula Birth Services LLC

    Practice overview

Over the past ten years I have been serving families as a volunteer in a myriad of ways. Military life and raising my kids allowed me many opportunities to hone my doula skills through work with non-profits, La Leche League, domestic violence shelters, law enforcement, women's ministries and missions. Now that we have retired, I have been blessed with the opportunity to fully engage in my doula work and fulfill the call I've been patiently waiting for. I am am a Certified Birth Doula, accepting Medicaid and soon Tricare insurance as well. My care plans always include extensive education support before and after birth. Walking into a birth and seeing a family feel confident in their birth preferences, and the ease of knowing their trail guide (doula) is here to help if we need to pivot strategy. I love helping families make informed choices aligned with their values in a nurturing environment, with practical guidance, education and evidence based support. My care plans include prenatal education, on call support, labor support, and postpartum support for all.

I am bilingual English/Spanish as well!

Phyllis is incredible! We were so blessed to have her by our side during the birth of our first child and hope to have her for our future children as well. As a first time mom, there was a lot we needed guidance on and she was able to provide us with evidence-based information almost immediately anytime we needed it so that we could establish a birth plan and were prepared for what to expect upon delivery at Womack Medical Center, here at Fort Liberty NC. Not only that but she spent countless hours, including an in-depth meeting with my husband and I, to go over all the little details that we would need to make before the baby came. She was also a great advocate for me throughout labor by providing relentless care and compassion to make our birth experience so special. She continues to make sure we have all that we need postpartum as well and would not go through another pregnancy without her by my side!
